Parents and students agree, DanceVersity is special!
"Amazing enthusiasm", vibrant pleasure!
"Danceversity camp at Ashkenaz is an important find for any parent of a young girl interested in world music and dance. Each day, the girls are introduced to three to five different cultures through dance, with professional dancers who have taken time out from their work to spend an hour, the afternoon, the day or the entire week with fresh faces and amazing enthusiasm. Watching the kids perform at the end of a week of camp is inspiring - they work together effortlessly, sometimes choreographing their own dances and by the end the week, they have made new friends. It's one of the few camps that invites middle school kids, often girls at that "awkward" teen or pre-teen stage. Danceversity allows them a free space to be comfortable in their own skin when that is not always easy - the girls' dances are beautiful, their self esteem palatable, and their pleasure vibrant. My daughter rates this as one of her all-time favorite ways to spend her summer and one she will attend again and again. Thanks to Hannah Romanowsky for the hard work and commitment to working with kids!" -- Parent, Oakland CA
"Super kind and supportive", "kindled a passion for dancing"
"While scavenging around the internet for a dance camp, my 13 year-old daughter discovered Danceversity. She had never taken any dance classes prior to the camp, but loved to twirl and shake, so we decided to sign up. The first day she came home with a wide grin upon her face to describe all the wonderful dances she learned, including Balinese, Salsa, Indian, Afro-Haitian, and Creative. She was also quick to point out how all the teachers were super kind, supportive, and were good about giving extra help to beginners like herself. The teachers were also very skilled at teaching the basics and, progressively, the more detailed techniques. Everyday my daughter learned new dances and also choreographed a couple along the way and by the end of the week she performed over 16 dances! Overall, she was very inspired and this camp definitely kindled her passion for dancing."

"Outstanding and passionate", "loads of fun"
"We build our summer around this camp, because my daughter wouldn't miss any of it for the world! Hannah and her team of dance instructors are all outstanding, and passionate about what they do. They teach with real respect for the students, as well as for the cultural traditions they are learning about. Although the emphasis is not on performance, the end-of-the-week shows are loads of fun for the dancers and for the parents, who are treated to an amazing display of how much their kids can learn in a week." - Parent
"Amazing teachers", "joy of rhythm and movement"
"My 13 year old daughter, who never took dance lessons before, loved the week with Hannah and her amazing teachers of dance from around the world. To name just a few, dances included Cumbia, Salsa, Capoeira, Afro-Haitian, Balinese, Turkish and Bollywood. It was inspiring to watch my daughter develop more knowledge and appreciation of other cultures, and the universal joy of rhythm and movement. An older teenage camper who was an experienced dancer included my daughter in duets they choreographed, and so the learning was from fellow campers too. I highly recommend this camp at Ashkenaz, a wonderful space for a teen to explore and express exuberance of dance! the performance on the last day with the younger kids was wonderful." -Parent, Berkeley CA
