Session 4: Bollywood Dance with Isabella Qureshi
Have fun learning Bollywood dance moves and choreography! Bollywood dance, from Indian dance movies combines many forms of dance- Classical Indian, Jazz, Hip Hop, Bellydance to name a few. The dances tell stories of love, celebration and more. In these classes learn the basic Eastern rhythms and upbeat, energetic movements that make up Bollywood dance.

Session 5: Hip-hop Dance with Karen Guzman
Ever thought about taking a Hip Hop class? Come dance with us! Classes consist of stretches, isolations, across the floor exercises and choreography. During our class we will develop our ability to pick up and execute choreography; and as we learn hip hop vocabulary and technique we will learn to develop our own flow and freestyle as hip hop dancers.

Session 1: Afro-Peruvian with Carmen Roman
The class will be a combination of Festejo and Zapateo (Afro-Peruvian footwork). Zapateo or Afro-Peruvian Footwork originated in black coastal towns of Peru. Danced with hard sole shoes to the sounds of the guitar and/or the cajon, the dancers provide the percussive element to a melodic tune. Students will also get a chance to learn some Spanish vocabulary related to the body as the lyrics of the song provide "clues" for the dance steps.

Session 2: Haitian Dance with Portsha Jefferson
Learn about Haitian people and their culture through lively music and dance! Students are introduced to traditional folkloric dances, customs, Creole songs and phrases. Engaging and spirited, Haitian folk dances embody a rich tradition and sense of pride. Portsha Jefferson brings her wealth of performance experience, 12 years of teaching Haitian dance to Bay Area students, and a passion for youth development to one of our most in-demand classes

Session 3: Romani (Gypsy) Dance with Hannah Romanowsky
The Roma, or Gypsies, are known for being exceptional dancers, musicians, and singers. Their dance, often performed spontaneously in the spirit of joyful self-expression, is full of cheeky humor, enthusiastic delight, and engaging theatrics. In this class series, students will explore the essential qualities of Romani dance while learning about their unique culture and history. Get ready to swish your skirts and snap your fingers to the exciting and energetic music of the Roma!
