MIDDLE-EASTERN DANCE taught by Hannah Romanowsky
Hannah's youth class emphasizes Arabic movement technique and folkloric dances from North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. Students will have the opportunity to wear the traditional coin-laden hip scarf, try their hand at finger cymbals, learn the "danse du plauteau" (tray-balancing dance) and master complex isolations unique to the belly dance form. Students will learn and produce their own choreography which will be at their disposal to perform for family and friends. This on-going class breaks during the month of August for the Danceversity summer program. Performance opportunities are available.
